Non-profit food banks and pantries in Connecticut may be able to help individuals and families who are facing a difficult period. Qualified residents can turn to these centers for free food, and many may also provide other forms of non-financial support such as clothing and general information on government assistance programs.
While the exact type of food provided will vary based on the pantry or food bank, in general many will provide perishable items, vegetables, bread, frozen foods, and others forms of nutritious meals. Most locations will also have counselors on site who can advise qualified individuals about low income government assistance programs as well as other charities that are located in the town, city, or region where the individual lives.
Each county in Connecticut also usually has other agencies that can provide financial assistance, such as Salvation Army, community action agencies, or similar. Click here to get more information on other financial assistance programs that may be available in your local community.
